LARRY HOUSER

Larry Houser

Each painting is a
learning experience

I was born in Fort Collins Colorado in 1945. I was raised on farms in Northern Colorado and on my Grandads ranch in Elbert Colorado. I went to grade school in Fort Collins Colorado.. I went to junior high school in Wellington Colorado. I started my high school years at Wellington High School. Because of the school redistricting I had to go to Fort Collins High School in my junior year. I graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1965. After graduating I went into construction. I went into an apprenticeship carpenter program. After completing the apprentice program I started my construction supervision vocation. As a superintendent my jobs took me to Arizona, Florida, Chicago Illinois, Wyoming, and Colorado in different areas. I retired from construction after 53 years +.

In 1968 I met the love of my life. I married Margie Gregory from Loveland (formally from Wyoming) During our marriage we had two wonderful Daughters. And now we have 5 grandkids. Margie is the rock of our family.

After graduating from high school in 1965 I took up photography as a hobby. It has been a lifelong hobby. As a photographer I learned composition light and shadow and many other photography items.

In May 2018 I retired from a construction vocation. My sister Judy came down from Idaho and we sat down and painted my first oil painting. I was impressed with painting, so I started painting on my own, not knowing very much about painting. My sister guided me in some areas of painting. So I started learning on my own by trial and error on paintings. Each painting I paint is a learning experience.

You never stop learning.
