LEONARD MAHONEY

I welcome your Emails

Through engineering eyes and varied mediums, Len mirrors a visual awareness of Nature.

Alcohol Ink on Metal

Leonard Mahoney is a local Fort Collins artist working in soft pastel, alcohol ink and acrylic painting.  Ever since his youth growing up in rural Michigan, he has taken inspiration from natural subjects and celebrates the magical act of capturing light, color, motion and atmosphere onto a canvas or paper.  In his work, he hopes to humbly mirror a visual awareness of Nature that comes to us when sitting still and looking, feeling a landscape as we walk through it, or witnessing movement of clouds, plants and water shaped by the wind and the elements.

Len has dabbled in painting and drawing since his youth, but after retiring as a research engineer in 2024, he has returned to art as a serious endeavor.  Many of his works reveal his ever-present inventive engineering side, which he sees as no different than the common ingenuity and cleverness that is instinctively demonstrated by so many artists, craftsmen and artisans.   â€‹

Soft Pastel

He enjoys preparing special compositions for non-profit galas and work spaces with a very special interest in "Animal Friends Alliance" here in northern Colorado.
